2016-17 Board Officers and Directors
President: Nicole Belyna, SHRM-SCP
The President has general charge and supervision over the affairs and business of the chapter, and serves as the face of the chapter at a majority of events.
The President-Elect assists the President in overseeing activities and performs presidential responsibilities in the President's absence. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
Secretary: Holly Cannon, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
The Secretary maintains the minutes from monthly Board of Directors meetings and performs other record-keeping for the chapter. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
Treasurer: Marcia Wheatley, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
The Treasurer is responsible for financial reporting to the board and chapter. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Communications: Jennifer Abramson
The VP Communications is responsible for preparing the chapter's monthly E-newsletter, and overseeing the publication of all chapter events and activities through social media. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Education: Sheila Thomas
The VP Education oversees several committees, including the Job Seekers Group, the Mentoring Group, Certification Preparation, Career Management, College Relations and Scholarships. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Legal Affairs and Compliance: Peter Asaad, Esq.
The VP Legislative monitors and evaluates pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state and local level; providing that information to our members through a variety of channels, such as the HRA-NCA Blogs, Newsletters, and Webinars. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Membership: Sheri Melvin, CBP
The VP Membership cultivates and provides orientation for new members, including promotion of membership benefits and engagement of volunteers at Happy Hour events and other chapter meetings. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Programs & Professional Development: Yvonne Evans
The VP Programs takes responsibility for planning and executing the monthly chapter events of the organization from September through June, including special events such as Conferences. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
VP Sponsorships: David Gooch
The VP Sponsorship seeks out sponsor organizations to participate in HRA-NCA events including monthly chapter programs, conferences, survey events, webinars, etc. This role is by Annual Nomination/Election.
Director, SHRM and VA SHRM State Council: Deron Lehman, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
This Director serves as a liaison between the chapter and SHRM. This role is by presidential appointment and is typically filled by the immediate past-president. This Director also serves as the chapter representative on the VA SHRM State Council, attending 75% of all state council functions and reporting to the chapter.
Director, Surveys: Pamela Smith
This Director oversees the Compensation and Benefits Committees in the annual production of the HRA-NCA Compensation Survey, Benefits Survey, Government Contractors Survey, and Salary Survey reports. Also oversees production of the HRA-NCA Compensation & Benefits Summit. This role is by presidential appointment.
