Afternoon Keynote Presentation: HR in an AI World

by Joseph A. Jones, PhD, SHRM-CP – SHRM Director, HR Competencies and Resources Research 

In this keynote presentation, Dr. Joe Jones, SHRM’s Director of HR Competencies and Resources Research, shares research underway by SHRM, the SHRM Foundation and others examining the impact of future workplace trends on the HR profession. In addition, he will showcase how HR professionals can leverage the two competencies of Critical Evaluation and Leadership & Navigation to prepare for the future to advance their careers and ensure the success and sustainability of their organizations. Learning objectives: 1. List three future workplace trends that will significantly impact your HR career and how you plan to develop your proficiency in HR competencies in response to those trends. 2. Identify three behaviors associated with Critical Evaluation that you can develop that will help you better mitigate future HR risks in your organization. 3. Identify what leadership style is best suited for leading HR in forecasting future workplace trends and preparing your organization for change and determine how you need to develop as a leader to better manage change in your organization.

Dr. Joseph Jones is the Director, HR Competencies and Resources Research for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), where he oversees thought leadership, product development, and research for HR professional competencies and other HR practices.  In this role, he collaborates with HR professionals to understand, document, and develop the competencies necessary to be successful as a professional and to lead successful HR programs.  He has presented at professional conferences and conducted webinars and workshops on topics such as talent management, competency modelling, engagement and employee assessment.  His work has been published in Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice and the Encyclopedia of Industrial and Organizational Psychology.  Prior to joining SHRM, Dr. Jones consulted various firms helping clients such as: Marriott; GM; Proctor & Gamble; Wal-Mart; OPM; and FAA.  He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology in 1999 from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
