Perks

The following is a guideline of perks for HRA-NCA officers and not a guarantee. Please note that HRA-NCA Bylaws, Chapter Charter, position descriptions, and the SHRM SHAPE program take precedence wherever applicable.  The HRA-NCA Perks Program is reviewed/amended annually; various perks may be modified based on individual volunteer performance.

President

Annual SHRM Membership dues; Free monthly meeting registration (Board Meetings, Chapter Events, CMP Events, Job Seekers Group Events, Survey Events, Conference, Professional Development seminars); Parking and/or metro transportation for HRA-NCA membership and/or committee meetings (where employer will not pay); Local SHRM Leadership Conference registration and transportation ($500 cap; no hotel); SHRM Legislative Conference registration and transportation (no hotel); SHRM Regional Council meetings (no hotel); additional professional conferences, as determined by President, where budget permits (may send designee); one-year free HRA-NCA membership for a member from your organization.

President-Elect

Immediate Past President

Free monthly meeting registration (Board Meetings, Chapter Events, CMP Events, Job Seekers Group Events, Survey Events, Conference, Professional Development seminars); Parking and/or Metro Transportation for HRA-NCA membership and/or committee meetings (where employer will not pay); Local SHRM Leadership Conference registration and parking ($500 cap; no hotel or meals); SHRM Regional Council meetings (no hotel).

Pay no HRA-NCA dues.

Directors

Free monthly meeting registration (Board Meetings, Chapter Events, CMP Events, Job Seekers Group Events, Survey Events, Conference, Professional Development seminars); Parking and/or Metro Transportation for HRA-NCA membership and/or committee meetings (where employer will not pay); Local SHRM Leadership Conference registration and parking ($500 cap; no meals and no hotel); SHRM Regional Council meetings (no hotel; SHRM Director only).

Board Officers

Free monthly meeting registration (Board Meetings, Chapter Events, CMP Events, Job Seekers Group Events, Survey Events, Conference, Professional Development seminars); Parking and/or Metro Transportation for HRA-NCA membership and/or committee meetings (where employer will not pay); Annual SHRM National Conference, hotel and meals (incoming VP Programs only); Local SHRM Leadership Conference registration and parking ($500 cap; no hotel or meals; new VPs only); SHRM Legislative Conference registration and transportation (no hotel; VP Legal Affairs and Compliance only).

Committee Chairs

The Programs Chair may attend monthly HRA-NCA chapter events free of charge.  Two persons from the Membership Committee (Membership Chair and Membership CLA) may also attend chapter events free of charge, in lieu of the VP Membership.  Attendance must be pre-approved by the respective VPs.  Parking and/or Metro Transportation for these events will be reimbursed in cases where the employer will not pay.  Volunteers who attend HRA-NCA events at no charge are asked to provide assistance in set-up, clean-up and/or registration.  Committee chairs may act as designees to attend the local SHRM Leadership Conference at no cost, including transportation, in cases where their VP cannot attend.  President pre-approval is required for all events where a cost of over $250 is anticipated to verify that the cost has been included in the budget.  

Committee Members

While committee members receive no specific perks, they may be asked to act as designees to attend various events in lieu of their VP or Committee Chair.  Any person acting in a designee capacity should notify the Chapter Manager.

Reimbursement of Expenses

All requests for expense reimbursement must be submitted to the Chapter Manager using the appropriate form.  Expense items that fall outside of the budget require prior and special board approval.

Note:  For large-expense perks, such as the Annual SHRM National Conference, no individual may enjoy this perk more than one time, regardless of their volunteer role or term of service.
