Professional Development

As part of our commitment to your professional development, a seminar series (Chapter Events) will be offered during each program year, held monthly from September through June. These seminars focus on significant topics in human resource management. Some of the topics are basic and provide the foundation information necessary for getting started in an HR career. Other topics are more advanced. Leading HR consultants and other professionals provide the seminar presentation, as well as the materials. All the HRA-NCA professional development seminars are intended to assist HR practitioners to come away with substantial, useful information applicable to today's workplace. Our Chapter Events typically carry 1.25 or more HRCI General Credit Hours. From time to time, our programs may carry HRCI Strategic Credit Hours. The HRA-NCA State Conference, generally held once per year, will carries a combination of HRCI General and Strategic Credit Hours.

PHR/SPHR/GPHR Professional Certification Preparation

Our chapter strongly supports professional certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). PHR/SPHR/GPHR Exam Preparation classes are held twice annually, usually in the Spring and Fall, to coordinate with the local PHR/SPHR/GPHR Exam times. The PHR/SPHR/GPHR Professional Certification Preparation classes provide an intensive HR review by highlighting areas that may require further study, providing a forum for shared discussions and enriching test-taking skills. If you've been thinking about taking the certification exam, get all the information from HRCI. Many of our programs and seminars are certified for PHR, SPHR, GPHR re-certification credit. Look for the seal adjacent to our event descriptions.
