Many area colleges and universities offer courses of study in Human Resource Management and have student SHRM Chapters. Student chapters are useful to students to develop networks, learn from speakers, meet HR practitioners already working in the field, and to prepare for certification exams. Find your nearest SHRM student chapter by calling (703) 548-3440 or visit SHRM on the web.
HRA-NCA is affiliated with several local educational institutions and is committed to establishing additional student chapters. We invite members, faculty advisors, and students to join HRA-NCA and become involved with our chapter. We offer a discounted membership rate for students. Student members may also wish to apply for our annual Mentoring Program.
Twice annually (December, May) HRA-NCA conducts a full day of preparation geared toward SHRM and HRCI certification exams. If you are planning to take the SHRM or HRCI exam, have applied to sit for the exam, have studied and do not feel prepared, have anxiety about the exam, want to brush up on current content, or just want to pass, you should consider joining us for one of these valuable sessions. You will learn the current body of knowledge, how to overcome test anxiety, effective strategies to prepare for the exam, proven test-taking tips, how to evaluate your own skill level and improve it, and how to succeed on the exam. Join the many others who have benefited from this experience! Check our event calendar for more details.
Several of our area's institutions of higher learning offer the SHRM and/or HRCI certification coursework.
HRA-NCA and SHRM both offer various sources of scholarship funds and research grants.
